Just saw the movie. Beautiful...but, better read the book first. Two thirds of it was spoken in Chinese...although the emotions were universal. Make sure you're in an "up" mood and have high quality chocolate nearby. Snowflower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See.

The costumes were well done. The silks and embroideries were especially intriguing. Made me think about some brocade silks in my stash....hmmmm.

Lou Cashon, Quilt Artist shows at the World Quilt - FL Show in West Palm Beach Florida

Lou Cashon, Juno Beach. Title: "Tie That Tiger". The Tiger piece in the center came from a Kimono worn by a Japanese man about 50 years ago. The vintage fabric is a blend of silk and wool...all the more apropo to add his signature silk ties. His entry was in the "One Thousand Cranes" exhibit at the World Quilt - Florida International Show.

Mr. Cashon embraced sewing a few months ago while starting his first project of ties sewn together to create a pillow. A dear friend asked him to make a "memory pillow" from ties of her late husband. Since then he has created more pillows, a gored skirt for his wife Joan who is a professional ballroom dancer, and novelty gift items. He also paints and creates floral arrangements. So prolific with the arts....his past career was in education. His studio is in Tequesta, FL where his items are for sale. I will add the contact information soon.

I was fortunate to be invited to do a segment (#104), so I believe that means "week four". I'll have more info soon. The segments carry a myriad of projects for all sewing levels and interests.

The segment above is a promo and gives you an idea of what it is like. In the intro, there is a quick shot of me....thank goodness I had a good hair day! After all, I was in snowy Cleveland, Ohio and my hair is used to blasts of Florida humidity. On the other hand, the hotel had great complimentary cookies. I attended a private art show in Juno Beach, FL for local artists. Every medium was represented well. My fascination was for a particular artist so gifted and prolific in her creations. Hattie Shorts quilts these "Stack and Whack" quilts (Author: Bethany Reynolds) in just a few days. There are three generationso of quilters/artists in her family. I recently met her daughter in law Suzanne and grandson Ryan. Ryan designed and made two quilts when ten years old. I'll be showing you more of their work soon.

Quilt by 8th graders in Indiana to honor Nissei WWII Veterans

The 8th Grade students at Sunnyside and Tecumseh Middle Schools in Lafayette ,Indiana are undertaking an awesome and inspiring project, a 19 X 41 ft quilt honoring the Japanese American soldiers who fought in World War II. This project is under the tutorship of their teacher, Mrs Leila Meyerratken. In addition to memorabilia, including dog tags of Nisei veterans , and the two poems written by 8th Graders, there will be over 20,000 names of Nisei soldiers, from the 100th Battalion, the famed 442nd Infantry Regiment, the 522nd Artillery Battalion , 1399th Engineer Construction Battalion and MIS (Military Intelligence Service) . There will be 120,000 tassels representing the number of Japanese and Japanese Americans incarcerated in Relocation Camps . The quilt dimension of 19X41 feet was chosen to represent the year 1941, the year Pearl Harbor was bombed. Like the "Go For Broke"Memorial in Lost Angeles, this quilt will be a tribute to the Japanese Americans who volunteered to fight for their country to prove that they are loyal Americans despite the incarceration of their family members in Relocation Centers. They are hoping that this quilt will be seen by others in the United States to teach others how they rose above the indignities they suffered by making sacrifices in the field of battle . The students strongly feel that this WWII history of the Japanese Americans soldiers , which is not covered in history books, should be told. To read more......

A letter from a friends friend:

Hello My Lovely Family and Friends,

First I want to thank you so very much for your concern for me. I am very touched. I also wish to apologize for a generic message to you all. But it seems the best way at the moment to get my message to you.

Things here in Sendai have been rather surreal. But I am very blessed to have wonderful friends who are helping me a lot. Since my shack is even more worthy of that name, I am now staying at a friend's home. We share supplies like water, food and a kerosene heater. We sleep lined up in one room, eat by candlelight, share stories. It is warm, friendly, and beautiful.

During the day we help each other clean up the mess in our homes. People sit in their cars, looking at news on their navigation screens, or line up to get drinking water when a source is open. If someone has water running in their home, they put out sign so people can come to fill up their jugs and buckets.

Utterly amazingly where I am there has been no looting, no pushing in lines. People leave their front door open, as it is safer when an earthquake strikes. People keep saying, "Oh, this is how it used to be in the old days when everyone helped one another."

Quakes keep coming. Last night they struck about every 15 minutes. Sirens are constant and helicopters pass overhead often.

We got water for a few hours in our homes last night, and now it is for half a day. Electricity came on this afternoon. Gas has not yet come on.

But all of this is by area. Some people have these things, others do not. No one has washed for several days. We feel grubby, but there are so much more important concerns than that for us now. I love this peeling away of non-essentials. Living fully on the level of instinct, of intuition, of caring, of what is needed for survival, not just of me, but of the entire group.

There are strange parallel universes happening. Houses a mess in some places, yet then a house with futons or laundry out drying in the sun.

People lining up for water and food, and yet a few people out walking their dogs. All happening at the same time.

Other unexpected touches of beauty are first, the silence at night. No cars. No one out on the streets. And the heavens at night are scattered with stars. I usually can see about two, but now the whole sky is filled.

The mountains are Sendai are solid and with the crisp air we can see them silhouetted against the sky magnificently.

And the Japanese themselves are so wonderful. I come back to my shack to check on it each day, now to send this e-mail since the electricity is on, and I find food and water left in my entranceway. I have no idea from whom, but it is there. Old men in green hats go from door to door checking to see if everyone is OK. People talk to complete strangers asking if they need help. I see no signs of fear. Resignation, yes, but fear or panic, no.

They tell us we can expect aftershocks, and even other major quakes, for another month or more. And we are getting constant tremors, rolls, shaking, rumbling. I am blessed in that I live in a part of Sendai that is a bit elevated, a bit more solid than other parts. So, so far this area is better off than others. Last night my friend's husband came in from the country, bringing food and water. Blessed again.

Somehow at this time I realize from direct experience that there is indeed an enormous Cosmic evolutionary step that is occurring all over the world right at this moment. And somehow as I experience the events happening now in Japan, I can feel my heart opening very wide. My brother asked me if I felt so small because of all that is happening. I don't. Rather, I feel as part of something happening that much larger than myself. This wave of birthing (worldwide) is hard, and yet magnificent.

I love to embroider designs on my garments and I combined various designs and decorative stitches to create the designs on this garment. I used quilting techniques including Seminole piecing to complete the design. Decorative stitching was used for the “quilting” and the batting is Hobbs Silk Batting. The pattern is from my “I’m Wearing My Quilt” Pattern Collection, #1007. I used Hemingworth embroidery thread for the embroidery designs as well as the decorative stitching

This is one of my favorite bags to make. It's fast to finish and cute to boot. All these fabrics came out as a "collection" which always makes it even easier. There is a magnetic snap closure inside near the top and a zippered pocket for valuables. I always make a roomy pocket to fit my wallet...so that's a pretty big zipper! The shoulder strap can be shortened to fit on your shoulder if you like to wear your bag right under your arm. I never understood that (except if you live in NYC). I love shades of blue, green, and dark brown together. Use fabrics you love and make purses in all the colors you love! I'll have some tutorials soon! The photographer is Lindsey Mills and she has captured the most amazing moment in time with these darling girls in their beautiful dresses. Shops on Etsy have come a long way and rival the big names in fashion. Kudos to you all! This is how it should be done.

File a consumer complaint. Have all the names of the companies ready. If you are filing a health insurance complaint, there will be many providers involved. Once it is in their hands...they will send an email to all the entities and all providers will have 24 hours to comply or explain what is happening. You can also give the name of your insurance compay and find out how many billions of dollars they have in Florida and how many complaints have been filed within 365 days.

If you want to give your insurance company a "heads up"....just ask for a senior supervisor because you're ready to file a complaint....and VOILA....suddenly you'll be in a three-way call and everyone is your BFF.

BTW, I asked my insurance company why Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida is offering a colonoscopy (even though I really don't want one and they can run as high as $3,000) as part of their Wellness Program. She said it is required by law now. I asked if it was now part of my policy and she said no....because I am grandfathered in and they are only included in all of their NEW policies. I asked if I would have to cancel and then apply to get a new policy and she said no. They are no longer writing new policies for anyone in Florida. It's getting grim.

I just got back from an art quilt show in N. Ft. Myers created by Art Quilters Unlimited. It was a beautiful show, well organized, and the best vendors. I'll add posts about it in the next few days.

Vintage Kimono Clutch...Kinou no Yume..Dreams of Yesterday

This clutch was made with fabric taken from a vintage Kimono. This fabric is over 70 years old and the colors are as vibrant as ever. In keeping with the very traditional floral images, I've embellished the fabric with hand sewn stitches using silken rayon thread while quilting through the layers of batting and underfabric. I lined it with yellow silk dupioni and machine quilted with two colors of rayon thread. Between the outside layer and the lining, I've included a strip of very stiff stabilizer and insulated it with more batting. This way the clutch can "sit up" on it's bottom surface. I just love this fabric and clutch.

Fellow Kimonophile, Cheryl Imperatore, is editing her book and getting ready for reprint "Kimono...Vanishing Tradition...Japanese Textiles of the 20th Century". I'll keep you posted about the book.

Sewing notions that save time and energy

My favorite sewing supplies. The disappearing/water soluble ink marker is perfect for "marking twice, cutting once". The other is a curved blade seam ripper which makes all the difference in the world. Before I found this, I would just fold up the project and put it in the back of a shelf...ha, ha.My third favorite notion is the Schmetz-Leather sewing machine needle. I used to struggle while sewing with leather...and now it's like stitching through buttah....

Koi Luck Club quilt

I stopped in at Molly's House where Michele and Judy were busily hanging the "I Candy" quilts. The last time I saw the quilts, they were hanging at the World Quilt Show-FL in West Palm Beach.

The Martin County Quilt Guild is exhibiting their Challenge Quilts recognizable by the challenge of including the "log cabin" piecing technique. Some of the quilts are for sale.

There was extra space available (small spaces) so I created another quilt to sell with all of the proceeds to go to Molly's House. I forgot how much fun it is to create these small pieces. It fills me with immediate gratification...which makes me happy. So, this latest piece is called the "Koi Luck Club - 101". I plan (but don't hold your breath...and you won't if you know me) to continue making these and numbering them. (Next one is 102... seemed like a good idea to start with three digits. I think if I started with "1", by the time I got to "3" I might give up.) Ha, ha.

I know this will be a very good New Year...which inspired this quilt. The images on this quilt are auspicious and remind me of the colorful money envelopes for the Chinese New Year....another reason to celebrate, EAT, and receive those envelopes. BTW, 2011 is the Year of the Rabbit. Maybe I should have made quilts with wabbits...no, it's about FABRIC!

I don't usually work with a palette of warm colors like these. The fabrics on the top half and the Kanji vignette at the bottom left came from Lonni Rossi's Collection for Andover Fabrics. All the different fabrics were in a one yard length (kinda like "cheater cloth" for quilting...I hate using that phrase...implying that we're doing something wrong...but, it puts a visual in your head and you know what I mean). Since all the colors match perfectly, I wanted to keep them all together. See, I would have never picked those fabrics to go together...but I love them. And, OF COURSE, they're no longer available...unless they're on a shelf in some little ol' quilt shop somewhere.

The fabric used for the bottom half of the quilt is named "Koi with Lotus and Waves" from Michael Miller Fabrics. This is my all time favorite fabric and there is another turquoise colorway. This was designed by my really, really favorite Designer, Mark Hordyszynski. It was out of print and Kathy & MMF decided to reprint. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

So, you'll be seeing more quilts with Koi...unless I run out of fabric...yeah, like that's gonna happen!

First let me say, this is a loooong post. You may enjoy it or you might get bored. It's kind of a personal post for old friends who have moved away. I keep meaning to send them updated photos but it's been ten years since that idea started. So, since I am taking friends for a tour, it seemed like a good time to take these photos. I've been meaning to send them to Nancy D and Marie. Here it is:

I started at the north side of the Evans Crary bridge (it cost almost $31 million) at Sewall's Point where there is a plaque. The photo to the left is of the shore just before you get to the plaque and in front of Benihana.

Then I got in the car and drove about a mile to the restaurant that used to be the "The Frances Langford Outrigger Resort" where you could get a perfect Mai Tai. You can still get one and now you can get a Raspberry Martini too...yummmm. The resort was renamed "The Dolphin Bar".

This is an awesome tree in front of the restaurant.

This is where Frances Langford docked her megayacht the Chanticleer (next to the restaurant).

I walked to the street, Indian River Drive, and this is the view of the river with the restaurant at the right.

This is the very exclusive gated community across the street from the restaurant. It used to be very rustic and overgrown with foliage. Frances Langford's estate is deep inside on the water. She used to have peacocks and let them roam freely. Have you ever heard them SCREAM?...I mean the peacocks.

I am approaching one of the few "hills" we have. If you make a left turn, where that car is coming from, you can experience our hill.

Here it is....our hill. A long time ago, this hill lead to the F.I.T. dorms that used to be on the right. They demolished the building and took away that enormous trash bin and built an enormous assisted living facility.

Here is the new building and another view below.

It's big.

Across the street, back to the river front, is the new Indian Riverside Park.

This was the F.I.T. campus. Here is a link to an editorial article written by Sally Swartz for the Palm Beach Post. She writes about how the money was collected for the renovation, the history of the buildings, and land. She informs us that Mount Elizabeth is really a 4,000-year-old Ais Indian midden on the National Register of Historic Places. The mound contains fish bones, pottery, shell ornaments and other remnants of Ais life.

I'm looking through the trees down to the main facility. This is not a great photo technique.

Here's the building I was trying to photograph and it is named in honor of Frances Langford. It has huge room for events. Nancy, we could have used this building when you were here! It's really more beautiful than it looks...and the view is spectacular.

This is the Children's Museum of the Treasure Coast. I think this building was once a Chapel.

The Mansion at Tuchahoe

Hmm...this is a photo I took of the Mansion but it looks more like a painting. This was the former Leach Family estate. I read that it was the administrative building for F.I.T. at some time after that.

A friend who used to live in this area just emailed me and gave me this additional info about the history of this building before it was used for F.I.T. : "This was also the novitiate convent for the Sisters of St. Joseph in the 50s where girls entered to become nuns. I entered the convent in 1956. The Postulant (beginners) dorm was on the upper left side. The curved windows below was where our dining room was. Middle second floor where the balcony is was our bathroom area with shower stalls, toilet stalls, sinks. Behind that facing the back was our second floor recreation room. On the upper left was more dorm space. Chapel was below. In the circle (of the driveway) we had a statue of St. Joseph."

On the way to the pier, behind the building, there was a wedding rehearsal. The grass died because we had some cold weather. Mine looks like that too.

I walked to the end and looking back at how far I've walked.

I found a Cool Tool by LeCreuset for 25 cents. I really loved it for the color and "jelly-ish" feel. I had to google it to find out that it's a trivet, pot holder, skid mat, jar opener, and garlic peeler (yep). Then I found Lilly Pulitzer fabric. Well, Pioneer Woman is giving away a ton of stuff. I already have THREE printers and each one does something special that I like. Then I thought if I got this one I could get rid of the three...unless YOU win it. I've been printing fabric sheets of photos of friends and making personalized Christmas gifts.

Printed Treasures (by Dritz) is a great product with excellent results. They offer quick and easy, step by step instructions and it's pretty much fool proof (I was successful! ha, ha)

Juno Shoe Girl was at the Stuart Craft Show. She had the cutest sandals that had snap on embellishment that you can change. How cool is that? The sandals themselves are cool enough. I tried on the different styles and found them to be very flattering for even wide, small feet (that would be me). All the leather is top quality and the embellishment selection is beautiful enough to be jewelry! I was fascinated by the turtles and her stylized realism. She has blinged flowers, sealife, abstract shapes, and it was difficult to decide. I guess that's the marketing plan! Juno Girl sandals will be in Tootsie's in the Spring.

Orchid Inspiration

I was thrilled to see these blossoms because I usually lose the plant after I buy it. So this orchid got a reprieve and this is year two.

I am planning a project and I usually look at a color wheel for some help. But this time I'm looking at nature to provide the color scheme.

Purple and green always go well together. The duo provide enough contrast while allowing you to bring in related hues.

We had rain...finally! It makes everything even greener and the best part is that it stopped the leaves from the tree across the street from blowing over to me.

Lunch at Dune Dog

Well, the Thanksgiving feast is over ... I had the turkey sandwiches and I need a break till turkey soup. I checked Facebook and some friends were shoveling snow and some were putting up Christmas trees.

Hmmm ... I think I'd rather take a short trip to Dune Dog in Jupiter, FL. There was a 15 minute wait for a table but it was worth it. It was a hot day ... no snow to shovel ... thank goodness those fans (see top of photo) were running. See that big silver heater (left in photo above)? That means they're ready for a cold, winter day too. We'll still be in shorts and flip flops, but we're ready to brave the 62 degree weather. The hot dogs and beer will warm us from the inside out.

I like that the picnic tables are topped with stainless steel. No ants crawling through the wood! I hate sharing my food with them.

While you're in the area ... Jupiter has some great antique and thrift shops on Center St.

Haute Handbags is my favorite magazine and it's like Christmas twice a year when they're published. Well...better twice a year than just once a year. What's even more fun? Submitting a project! I've submitted something for the next issue and I have my fingers crossed. This is the submission page for all their magazines.

When you submit proposals for their magazines, be sure to take photos: 1) of the complete project without a distracting background 2) of close ups to show the texture 3) with good lighting to get the true colors 3) and offer some information about your project (especially the inspiration). You never know if you'll be selected.

The photo to the right is a close up slice of my project. I just love the color, the jacquard weave in the silk, and the fact that this fabric is from a vintage Kimono that is over 50 years old. When I design with old Kimono...I always wonder what stories they could tell...

MC Quilters Log Cabin Challenge

The Martin County Quilters 2010 Challenge required the log cabin technique. We had free rein as long as there was a log cabin. Of course...my BEST (ha, ha) ideas are spurred on by stress and a deadline. This comes from years of working in the design industry. This is my (singular) log cabin quilt. I figured if I made the strips big enough I could come close to the second requirement (not bigger than 36" x 36").

My inspiration was the Koi fabric that has lived in my stash for many, many years. I love the green and blue combination and the Koi supplied the "warm" colors. The log cabin is in the middle and I have a lonely yellow fish in the center. I have a wonky strip pieced border along the top and I used "whole cloth" to include a group of fish at the bottom.
I really enjoyed making this quilt and made a nick into my stash. There were 45 entries and we won't know the winners (I am in the non judged group) until after the World Quilt Show this weekend in West Palm Beach. All 45 are hanging! More photos....coming soon!

Martin County Quilters creates a quilt for the House of Refuge on Hutchinson Island, Florida

The Martin County Quilters presented their quilt to the House of Refuge on Hutchinson Island. They researched the history of the building and expressed the story through the images on the quilt. They used traditional techniques as well as cutting edge technology throughout. Members of the guild were instrumental for planning, creating specific blocks, and incorporating them into the piecing that brought it all together. Pictured with the quilt are Michele Sanandajian (President) and Stefanie Foster (Vice President). The MCQ guild is creating another...yes, another quilt for a fundraising endeavor later this year (yes...that means in a few months!) Everyone there was in awe of what the MCQ guild members were able to create for the House of Refuge in conjunction with the Elliott Museum. Sandy Thurlow, Stuart author, attended the presentation of the quilt created specifically for the House of Refuge by the Martin County Quilters on Hutchinson Island. This was done in conjunction with the Elliott Museum. Sandy has written extensively about the history of Stuart. It is her passion and she does it well. I met Sandy decades ago at Indian River State College in a ceramics class...we haven't thrown a pot since. Instead, we are authors...we laughed about that!

This is a pieced pocket on the front of my handbag. The beads start just above the pocket which seemed like a nice way to accent the area.

I used coins, charms, and beads from my stash. OMG...it made me realize how much junk...uh, I mean treasure that I own.

I got these fabrics at Magrieta's Quilt Shop in St. Augustine, Florida. If you're in that area ... check the mapquest on her site, plug in your GPS, and maybe call her to see if they're fixing the roads and if there are detours. No one tells the GPS about that. Bon Voyage!

Well, I got my Hoffman Challenge submission out! Granted...I had to send it by FedEx overnight. What can I say? My creative juices are enhanced by a deadline. This year it was a beautiful turquoise print with a ton of coordinating fabrics! It was a breeze working with all that luscious fabric. Now Sulky is a co-sponsor (their prizes are $1,000; $500; and $250...I didn't really use a significant amount of thread...but I do L-O-V-E rayon thread) so there are even more chances to win stuff for your STASH. I tried to clean out my stash...but I LOVE everything I have. I started late this year (like the day before I mailed it) BUT I hope to start sooner next year. Thank goodness the Jam Patch had the fabric in stock...and Margie knew where it was. Of course, while I was there I was lured by more fabric.

Aren't these bags great?! They all made the same bag...from three kit selections. They went all out on the embellishment and each bag reflected their personality...especially "Hot Dot". Some of those bags are so awesome that they could use matching hats. They embellished with organza roses, threads, buttons, feathers....and Karen went home and raided a sweater and CAT (it was so funny...but, you had to be there) for embellishment. Hey, where is Karens photo? We'll have to get one from her. Where is Maggie?! She provided a lot of laughs.

We had a great big classroom and 14 Babylock Ellisimos. Nothin' but the best for Peg's customers.

I wanted to buy peaches while I was in South Carolina but Peg said they wouldn't be ready till July 4th...so I settled for boiled peanuts and ribs with a mustard barbeque sauce.

Another reason to visit Peg....gas was $2.37 a gallon there in West Columbia, SC.

I don't know what is happening but blogspot won't let me upload the rest of the photos...have to work on that.

I have always been a fan of Karen Brow's patterns. I am listing these two patterns in my Etsy store. These photos show each entrance to the Michael Miller Fabrics booth at Spring Market. I saw they had the "blue ribbons" for the best booth design. The photo at the left had to be edited so you could see the details. Click on the photo so you can see a larger version. There is a ruffled pillow at the bottom left. It is made of yards and yards of a ruffle that they offer with the matching fabric. In fact, I saw that there is even linen in their lineup of fabrics. They always offer something no one else has. This time, there is a line named "Antiquity" and I was truly amazed. As soon as I find out what stores offer the entire line (or close) I will list them here.

Patty Young for Michael Miller Fabrics

Patty Young had several collections for Spring Market. One is called Modkids and the other is a line of 100% cotton knits. FINALLY! Knits have finally come to the market. Now, even quilt shops can order knits on a regular basis. Now don't freak out! It's just as easy to sew...but you need to use a (sewing machine needle) for knits. They even had pieced quilts made out of the knits. They were so soft and cuddly...now, why didn't we think of this sooner? I am creating a line of patterns suitable for knit fabric....so keep in touch.

Michael Miller Fabrics ~ Pretty Bird Collection

This is the "Pretty Bird" collection. The colors and images are just awesome. This photo just doesn't do it justice. At the show the lighting was just perfect to show off the clear and colorful hues. I have a close up photo of the birdhouses...so well done.

Stephanie Kimura attends Spring Market 2010 in Minneapolis

It was an adventure getting to the Spring Market (wholesale tradeshow for the quilting and sewing industry). I drove up from Florida and between Chattanooga and Nashville there was a 25 foot sinkhole. Luckily, it was in the southbound traffic and I was heading north. Whew! Have to remember to find another way home.

I had a minimalist booth since I had to fit everything in a Corolla. Took my trunk show and went with a "pink" color scheme. Good thing because my neighbors were in the same mood. The photo on the left shows my samples of my pattern (Bamboo Goddess Hip Bag), the Orihon, and behind it all is my Flash Vest. I displayed my Corset that was featured in Belle Armoire (photo on right).

I saw a lot of old friends from the Biz and the usual attendees. Kaye Wood was her usual jovial self and her office manager, Kathleen, was there. I forgot to ask her about baby pictures!

June Colburn was there with all her finery. After the show she was heading for Asheville, NC. She was invited to a wedding at the Biltmore and was looking forward to that.

It was great to see Jeanine Twigg and her awesome booth. Why don't I have a photo of that?!? She looked great and ready to roll with all her products.

Expo International always has great stuff and I placed my order.

Cleo's Designs was across from me at the show. Not only are her patterns great but Cleo and Don are so much fun. Not only will you want her patterns but you'll want them over for dinner......

"Possibilities" aka Great American Quilt Factory was the booth next to me. What great original quilts! Ashley manned the booth and is really a lot of fun. Mark Lipinski (who has his own Quilting magazine) came by and taped an interview with the owners. He's CRAZY!

If you ever have to go to that area near the Mall of America...stay at the Comfort Suites. The Outback Steakhouse was connected to the lobby which makes it convenient for Happy Hour and dinner. The price was a fraction of the Courtyard Marriott next door and the rooms were comparable...nice. BTW, for breakfast they offer Belgian Waffles...you can always win me over with those.

Daphne Drape Top pattern ~ Sew News ~ June/July

This is the first of my new group of patterns. Some are for knits only and some can be used with knits and woven fabrics. My article on page 50 of Sew News and is about working with Slinky. I'm a little behind on the completion of the pattern and driving off to Minneapolis for Spring Market. If you're going to be there...stop by to see me at Booth # 1113.
