Hattie Shorts, artist extraordinaire !

I attended a private art show in Juno Beach, FL for local artists. Every medium was represented well. My fascination was for a particular artist so gifted and prolific in her creations. Hattie Shorts quilts these "Stack and Whack" quilts (Author: Bethany Reynolds) in just a few days. There are three generationso of quilters/artists in her family. I recently met her daughter in law Suzanne and grandson Ryan. Ryan designed and made two quilts when ten years old. I'll be showing you more of their work soon.

Haute Handbags Spring 2011 ~ Mumm Pouch by Stephanie Kimura

Well....Stampington outdid themselves with this issue of Haute Handbags. I especially love the Spring issue because of all the brilliant colors and artful styles apropo for celebrating the coming of Spring and Summer. The issue is out on the stands now........if you live in an area where it is not available.......then buy it HERE.
I'll also have the metal frame used in the Mumm Pouch for sale in a few days....watch for it here.

Here's my "Mumm Pouch" on page 94 (above). Elegant morsels made with vintage Chirimen Kimono textiles. Use fabrics from a skirt your Grandmother wore....a great way to keep a connection to her (also a great gift to the bride in your family).

More instructions on page 95 and free pattern on page 96 (below).

LOTS of great Artists in this issue......here is a peek......

I am a sucker for RED!

The Houston International Quilt Festival 2009

This art quilt blew me away. Eveything about it was/is awesome. I am so upset that I didn't get the artists name. If you know who the artist is, please let me know and I will add it to this blog. The artist certainly deserves to be known. In fact, I was going to hold this photo for a future blog post...but I can't wait! I'll be adding more photos soon...but I love this one.
